Chickpeas, scientifically known as Cicer arietinum, is an annual legume that belongs to the family Fabaceae and subfamily Faboideae. They are known to be originated in the Mediterranean and the Middle East, but now are cultivated and used across the world.
Chickpeas are known with different names around the world like – Gram, Or Bengal Gram, Garbanzo, Garbanzo Bean, and Egyptian Pea. They are rich in protein and energy, which also makes them an appropriate feed for animals.
