Rice
Rice
Rice is extracted from the grass species Oryza sativa (Asian rice) or less commonly Oryza glaberrima (African rice), 10,000–14,000 years ago.
Around half of the population, especially in Asia and Africa, in the world is completely dependent upon rice as a staple food. Approximately 95% of the world’s rice crop is eaten by humans.
Interestingly, rice can be grown practically anywhere, even on a steep hill or mountain area with the use of water-controlling terrace systems.
